PATIENT SUPPORT TEAM MEMBER

Patient Support Volunteers are a vital part of the hospice team. Patient support volunteers assist staff in meeting the needs of our patients and their families. The volunteer's role is generally that of a listener, but they may also spend time visiting, reading to the patient, playing music or singing, writing letters, light housekeeping, or meal preparation for the patient. A typical time commitment is about 2-4 hours a week, but the actual amount can vary depending on the needs of the patient and family. Training is provided for Patient Support Volunteers before they visit patients.

Volunteer candidates need to complete an application process including reference and background checks. Military veterans are especially encouraged to apply!

Patient Care Volunteers can create Volunteer Care Visit Notes clicking on the Visit Note link or button.

VETERAN TEAM MEMBERS

Walla Walla Community  Hospice is one of only five Washington State Hospices which have achieved a Level 4 partnership in the We Honor Veterans program. We have military veteran volunteers who publicly acknowledge the military service and sacrifices made by the patient (Veteran) and his/her family. The ceremony offers an opportunity for each veteran to share part of his or her story. By doing so, a sense of meaning and purpose can be gained by the Veteran.

ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM MEMBER

We have jobs large and small that need to be done to keep our organization running smoothly. Office/clerical work, help with large mailings, unpacking freight, and cleaning the parking lot are just a few examples.
